There is no country like it and there are no people like the Irish. In the mid 19th century my ancestors on the West Coast ( near Galway) - as a part of the mass suffering of the famine- chose to save enough money to send one family member to America in order that their name and family might live on through the death of the Great Hunger. Families typically sold everything they had even the hinges on their front doors. I am part of the diaspora but each time I return Im welcomed with open arms. The Irish are remarkable and enchanting - their landscapes are perfect and serene. Everyone chooses to capture the land in color - it is rich, and it is a photogpraphers dream - but I always have seen it in black and white.
